My kind of installation!

I am just searching for an rsync tool for windows. I don’t know why it took me so long to go for it for synchronizing my blogs because this is what this tool is about – syncing! But I was looking for something very special: “without a full Cygwin installation”.

I don’t like Cygwin. I don’t mind what it can do: If I want a bash, I boot up *ix. I have a windows machine, I like my cmd and I have all the tools I need. As Dos tools. Not because I am so much against windows programs, I am not.

But unless those programs come from Microsoft or are very very well done, they usually fall through my testing of “do they follow windows standards and can I use them for 5 seconds without screaming”.

So *ix tools for Windows are great, with one exception: Too many of them are for Cygwin. Why not? See above.

Oh, did I mention, that I earn most of my money with awk, grep and Excel? No kidding. ;)

The underlying files which are spreaded throughout some servers. They need updates, I want to make backups etc. Or just mirror those locally etc.
