Have enough plugs and cords. Have some adapters available.

Turn off your sounds. Switch of your skype calls, well turn Skype off at all, because the P2P Skype is probably crashing the wifi.

Don’t set up a flashy “backchannel” without link to a real IRC connect. While it is nice to read it on the screen, if you a) can’t connect and b) cannot use the tools you are used to, you will just do what you always do: Do what you like.
