Waaaa. Meet Boomshine. Actually, I made it to 54 balls. As it seems I am not the only one having problems.

Boomshine is an addictive Flash casual game. Click the screen to start a chain reaction and try to explode as many dots as needed to pass a level. The game contains 12 levels ranging from the easy to the hard (only 3.97% of games pass level 12). Over 3 million games have been played by over 100,000 different players.

The music is very nice as well – I think I will just skip the last level and go for the fun again from the start! (via)

I do have the feeling I am getting to old for this. o2 Music Flash is presenting a free concert at Cebit with the Sugababes – I still remember the Spice Girls. ;)

Until now it is mainly promoted in German, but if I have any Sugababes fans as readers .. here you go. ;) You will probably not be able to attend, but the concert is also streamed on the net from 7pm middle European time (= GMT+1).
More information can be found here.

Disclosure: I am lead blogger for o2′s event blog during Cebit.

Call me Nicole, thanks.

nisi / neezee and nixande are my most likely usernames in different services and tools. One of the reason why I prefer them over my normale name is the fact that I am not able to type my first nor my last name fast. Nicole nearly never comes out correctly, but Nciole / Nicloe and Simoen / Simone are favorites *grrrr*

You would assume that my ‘natural’ nick name would be Nicki / Nicky or such. Well, there was a bavarian singer of stupid songs during the time someone would pick a nickname so that was out of the question. By chance my mother needed to put my name in my clothes for some kind of summer camp and was lazy. As NS could have been mistaken for somebody else NiSi would have probably not.

By that time I found my first name to be boring and was very upset by my parents not to give me a second name like everybody else in my family has. (Although – that probably would have been Maria). So I went with Nisi and even got some teacher to call me that name.

Some time ago I adapted the spelling to Neezee because I like the writing better than Nisi and you englisch speaking people can pronounce it better. ;)

Nonetheless I really dislike being called by that nicknames (except in some specific circumstances like for clarification) and prefer being called Nicole.

I love piano / synthi

You may have heard me calling musik “Schrammelmusik”, which is a German expression I probably made up. Consider this to be everything which relies to heavy on guitars. Not my kind. It is not that I actually need to have the mellow ones, I really do enjoy some kinds. But what it boils down to is simple: I just love synthizers and piano.

My first crush in high school played piano and introduced me to Saga – but that can’t be it. Another one of my favorites in this regard is FPI Project with “Rich in Paradise”. Steppin up that boots baby! ;)

nearly 20 years of being online or why Nicole 17 is a bad choice for a nickname

I will be able to celebrate 20 years of chat history by 2008. The reason I remember? When I joined btx (a German system like the french minitel), I thought of what nickname to pick. Nicole was already taken so I took Nicole17. Yes, you can probably guess why that was a baaaaaad idea. The nick is still perfect for demonstration purposes. ;)

With an interruption of some years and a short intermezzo with Compuserve I really starting using the net (and chat of course) in 1995. Btw one reason to have _nisi / _neezee as a nickname on IRC? It does not sound female …

No love for horses. Ever.
I am not sure if this is only a thing for German teenage girls, but they all seem to have their phase of “loving horses and going riding”. Like between 10-15 or such, before they get into boys. Never ever had that, not the slightest bit of interest ever.

I appreciate small things and gestures
I don’t need nor want fancy stuff, instead I am more than happy with simple things. Looking up at the stars and enjoy them on a clear night, beautiful colors of the sky in the evening, zen like arrangements, just the simple pleasure of pure bread and some butter, and and and. Also I appreciate if someone is attentive and shows that they pay attention – which can be done by small gestures many may find to little. I appreciate them.

I am tagging Pedro, André, Alex, Rick and Dragos, 4 out of 5 l of which I met for the first time at reboot. ;)

The wife said, “You should do it because you get up first, and then we don’t have to wait as long to get our coffee.

The husband said, “You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee.”

Wife replies, “No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee.”

Husband replies, “I can’t believe that, show me.”

The Independent:
To google or not to google? It’s a legal question

Search engine giant Google, known for its mantra “don’t be evil”, has fired off a series of legal letters to media organisations, warning them against using its name as a verb.

I know they have to try, but I think that one has no chance of success. Everyone uses the verb google in this way – even normal people. Especially normal people.

It is a brand like Coke for Cola. I understand the reasons why they want to protect their trademark – or let’s better say I know that there are some things involved as soon as your trademark is used by everyday people it not being as protected any more. But at the same time, it is a huge victory for them. Search is Google.

I never said “altavista this, msn search that, aol this”. But everybody says google.

Oh in case you think I miswrote the subject – it is German. :) The term “to google” has made it’s entry into the German Duden (the authority about spelling in Germany) last year, but in a slightly different form due to the way you pronounce it (googeln reflexts the way we write how english people pronounce “le” – which, if you think about it, makes much more sense *g*).

“Geh’ googeln” is the Imperativ to tell somebody to go to google first before they ask their questions. ;)

A picture proof can be found here. Interesting side note: As usual, the Duden calls Google an Internet Search Engine. This reflects the way how normal people get irritated if you insist that it is not the Net you find something on but the Web.

Today though, calling Google an Internet Search Engine makes much more sense than in the old days, beause today they do search so much more than just the Web. ;)

Update: Thomas Wanhoff reports (in German) that Google pressures the German Duden for changing the meaning from ‘using a search engine’ to something more related to ‘using Google’.

Yes I know they have to do it, but still.

As well as talk. As well as laugh. As well as participate in their surrounding.

Some people call this “second life” as long as a computer is involved.

I’m sorry, this *is* first life for a lot of us. And Coupa Café is how every café should be. Except with more powerplugs. ;))

Did I mention that I will have breakfast and lunch here tomorow? ;))))
